Coaching for young people in North Yorkshire

Specialist coaching for confidence, focus and next steps

Young people today face a lot: Exam pressure, decisions about the future, transitions to college or university, and increasing independence. For those with ADHD or care experience, these challenges can feel even more overwhelming.

Coaching  offers young people a supportive, non-judgmental space to think things through, build confidence and develop practical strategies for everyday life.

Who I work with

Becky works with young people aged 14 and upwards. Her clients include school, college and university students, young people with ADHD, and those with experience of the care system. All coaching is tailored to the individual. Each young person's challenges and goals are unique.

Client testimonials

 Teenage girl

"My daughter has had 6 sessions with Becky so far.

Since the start of these sessions she seems calmer, more reflective and able to deal with stresses much easier.

I think it has been brilliant for her to have her "own person" outside of school and home."

What's been the most helpful or enjoyable part of coaching?

"The ability to switch off from my day and confide in Becky over areas of struggle and Becky's ability to weave this into the coaching with offers of support geared towards my needs.

I also benefit from Becky sending me notes from our sessions so I can refer back rather than rely on my (not reliable) memory or own notes."

What would you tell someone about having ADHD coaching?

"I think that someone who understands ADHD will be a great supporter for you as coaching can be generic and the action-focused approach is useful, but could be paralysing for someone with ADHD.

Becky is a fantastic coach and shows great empathy and understanding which helps to build trust."

Why coaching?

Coaching helps young people build the tools and strategies they need to thrive – not only academically, but personally and socially too. It offers:

  • A space to talk openly and be listened to without judgement
  • Support to untangle problems and dilemmas
  • A chance to see new perspectives and possibilities
  • Confidence in making educational and career decisions
  • Goal-setting and accountability to keep progress on track

What are common areas of support

Young people at college and university often come to coaching for help with:

  • Managing day-to-day organisation and workload
  • Coping with transitions, such as moving away from home or starting a new course
  • Making major educational and career choices
  • Navigating financial responsibilities and living arrangements
  • Managing relationships with friends, partners and parents

Coaching can be particularly valuable when these challenges are complicated by:

  • Low confidence or self-esteem
  • Uncertainty about the future
  • Stress, overwhelm or low mood
  • A sense of isolation or pressure to “have it all figured out”

Specialist experience with care-experienced young people

For five years, I worked as a Leaving Care Worker, supporting care leavers aged 16–25. I understand the additional pressures that can come with care experience, such as:

  • Lack of consistent family support
  • Uncertainty around living arrangements
  • Isolation and loneliness
  • Financial challenges
  • Accelerated independence

This allows me to offer not only strategies and support, but also empathy and practical knowledge about the realities care-experienced young people face.
